And now, my friends, you haven’t helped me either. You see the horrible condition I’m in. And that makes you afraid.

Now you too have proved to be of no help; you see something dreadful and are afraid.

For you have now become nothing; you see my calamity and are afraid.

You, too, have given no help. You have seen my calamity, and you are afraid.

So this is what you have now become to me. When you see something dreadful, you are afraid.

Indeed, you have now become such, You see terrors and are afraid.

For now you are nothing, You see terror and are afraid.

My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds. My neighbors stay far away from me.

The first time I was put on trial, no one came to help me. Everyone deserted me. I hope they will be forgiven for it.

Stop trusting in mere human beings, who can’t help you. They only live for a little while. What good are they?

But all this has happened so that the words of the prophets would come true.” Then all the disciples left him and ran away.

Surely ordinary people are only a breath. Important people are not what they seem to be. If they were weighed on a scale, they wouldn’t amount to anything. Together they are only a breath.

Poor people are avoided by their whole family. Their friends avoid them even more. The poor person runs after his friends to beg for help. But they can’t be found.

Jesus told them,“ This very night you will all turn away because of me. It is written that the Lord said,“‘ I will strike the shepherd down. Then the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’( Zechariah 13:7)

“ The nations say,‘ We would have healed Babylon. But it can’t be healed. So let’s leave it. Let’s each go to our own land. Babylon’s sins reach all the way to the skies. They rise up as high as the heavens.’

“ The kings of the earth who committed terrible sins with her will weep. They will mourn because they used to share her riches. They will see the smoke rising as she burns.They will be terrified by her suffering. They will stand far away from her. And they will cry out,“‘ How terrible! How terrible it is for you, great city! How terrible for you, mighty city of Babylon! In just one hour you have been destroyed!’

Job had three friends named Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They heard about all the troubles that had come to Job. So they started out from their homes. They had agreed to meet together. They wanted to go and show their concern for Job. They wanted to comfort him.When they got closer to where he lived, they could see him. But they could hardly recognize him. They began to weep out loud. They tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads.Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him. That’s because they saw how much he was suffering.
