But my brothers are as undependable as intermittent streams, as the streams that overflow

But my friends have stopped being kind to me. They are like streams that only flow for part of the year. They are like rivers that flow over their banks

My brothers are treacherous as a torrent-bed, as torrential streams that pass away,

My brothers, you have proved as unreliable as a seasonal brook that overflows its banks in the spring

My brothers are as treacherous as a wadi, as seasonal streams that overflow

My brothers have dealt deceitfully like a brook, Like the streams of the brooks that pass away,

My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, As the channel of brooks that pass away;

Why has my pain been endless And my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will You indeed be to me like a deceptive stream With water that is unreliable?

My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand far away.

Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.

Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

All my associates loathe me, And those I love have turned against me.

These are the ones who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, like shepherds caring only for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;

All your lovers have forgotten you, They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the punishment of a cruel one, Because your wrongdoing is great, And your sins are numerous.

You have removed lover and friend far from me; My acquaintances are in a hiding place.

Do not trust in a neighbor; Do not have confidence in a close friend. Guard your lips From her who lies in your arms.For son disavows father, Daughter rises up against her mother, Daughter in law against her mother in law; A person’s enemies are the people of his own household.

“ Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; Because every brother utterly betrays, And every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.Everyone deceives his neighbor And does not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves committing wrongdoing.
