“ How frail is humanity! How short is life, how full of trouble!

And to the man he said,“ Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains.By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

You spread out our sins before you— our secret sins— and you see them all.We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan.

We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.And this, too, is a very serious problem. People leave this world no better off than when they came. All their hard work is for nothing— like working for the wind.Throughout their lives, they live under a cloud— frustrated, discouraged, and angry.

So what do people get in this life for all their hard work and anxiety?

Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.
