“ Would you dare to claim that I am not being fair? Would you judge me in order to make yourself seem right?

Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?

“ Will you discredit my justice and condemn me just to prove you are right?

Would you really challenge my justice? Would you declare me guilty to justify yourself?

Will you really nullify My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

“ Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?

Wilt thou even annul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?

Would you really challenge My justice? Would you declare Me guilty to justify yourself?

Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Would you indeed annul my justice? Would you declare me guilty so that you might be right?

Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God.

Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it.

Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written:“ So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

“ Job says,‘ I am innocent, but God denies me justice.Although I am right, I am considered a liar; although I am guiltless, his arrow inflicts an incurable wound.’

Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked?

“ As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice, the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,as long as I have life within me, the breath of God in my nostrils,my lips will not say anything wicked, and my tongue will not utter lies.I will never admit you are in the right; till I die, I will not deny my integrity.I will maintain my innocence and never let go of it; my conscience will not reproach me as long as I live.

Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.

For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?

“ Do you think this is just? You say,‘ I am in the right, not God.’Yet you ask him,‘ What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’

Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless
