強辯的豈可與全能者爭論嗎？與神辯駁的可以回答這些吧！

「強辯的豈可與全能者爭論？與上帝辯駁的可以回答吧！」

「強辯者豈可與全能者爭論？與上帝辯駁的人請作出答覆。」

“挑剔是非的，怎能與全能者爭辯呢？責備神的，回答這個問題吧。”

『好辯的哪可同全能者挑剔是非呢？譴責上帝的儘管回答呀。』

好駁折者、可與全能者爭論乎、與上帝辯者、尚其答之、

我全能之上帝也、爾昔欲與我辨、今何詞以對。

好辯者、欲與全能之主爭乎、與天主辯者、今可答之、

“ I am the Mighty One. Will the man who argues with me correct me? Let him who brings charges against me answer me!”

“ Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

“ Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?”

Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who argues with God give an answer.

“ Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who rebukes God give an answer.”

“ Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it.”

Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.

Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him who argues with God give an answer.

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct[ him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

“ Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”

“ Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

for,“ Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Why do you complain to him that he responds to no one’s words?

Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?

Withdraw your hand far from me, and stop frightening me with your terrors.Then summon me and I will answer, or let me speak, and you reply to me.How many wrongs and sins have I committed? Show me my offense and my sin.Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?Will you torment a windblown leaf? Will you chase after dry chaff?For you write down bitter things against me and make me reap the sins of my youth.You fasten my feet in shackles; you keep close watch on all my paths by putting marks on the soles of my feet.

“ Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”“ Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

He would crush me with a storm and multiply my wounds for no reason.He would not let me catch my breath but would overwhelm me with misery.

Why is life given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?

“ Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter,‘ What are you making?’ Does your work say,‘ The potter has no hands’?Woe to the one who says to a father,‘ What have you begotten?’ or to a mother,‘ What have you brought to birth?’“ This is what the Lord says— the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands?

Though they wished to dispute with him, they could not answer him one time out of a thousand.

“ What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel:“‘ The parents eat sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?

then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me.“ Though I cry,‘ Violence!’ I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice.He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; he has shrouded my paths in darkness.He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head.He tears me down on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree.His anger burns against me; he counts me among his enemies.

“ Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter of soul,

“ As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice, the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,

One of you will say to me:“ Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?”But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?“ Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,‘ Why did you make me like this?’”Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath— prepared for destruction?What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory—

He who vindicates me is near. Who then will bring charges against me? Let us face each other! Who is my accuser? Let him confront me!

When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner.

Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked?Do you have eyes of flesh? Do you see as a mortal sees?Are your days like those of a mortal or your years like those of a strong man,that you must search out my faults and probe after my sin—though you know that I am not guilty and that no one can rescue me from your hand?

Surely then you will count my steps but not keep track of my sin.My offenses will be sealed up in a bag; you will cover over my sin.

Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant?If I have sinned, what have I done to you, you who see everything we do? Why have you made me your target? Have I become a burden to you?Why do you not pardon my offenses and forgive my sins? For I will soon lie down in the dust; you will search for me, but I will be no more.”

“ He is not a mere mortal like me that I might answer him, that we might confront each other in court.If only there were someone to mediate between us, someone to bring us together,someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more.Then I would speak up without fear of him, but as it now stands with me, I cannot.

If I sinned, you would be watching me and would not let my offense go unpunished.If I am guilty— woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion and again display your awesome power against me.You bring new witnesses against me and increase your anger toward me; your forces come against me wave upon wave.

“ Why did I not perish at birth, and die as I came from the womb?Why were there knees to receive me and breasts that I might be nursed?

Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

You turn on me ruthlessly; with the might of your hand you attack me.

Am I the sea, or the monster of the deep, that you put me under guard?

God has turned me over to the ungodly and thrown me into the clutches of the wicked.All was well with me, but he shattered me; he seized me by the neck and crushed me. He has made me his target;his archers surround me. Without pity, he pierces my kidneys and spills my gall on the ground.Again and again he bursts upon me; he rushes at me like a warrior.“ I have sewed sackcloth over my skin and buried my brow in the dust.My face is red with weeping, dark shadows ring my eyes;yet my hands have been free of violence and my prayer is pure.“ Earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry never be laid to rest!Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high.My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God;on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.

Whatever exists has already been named, and what humanity is has been known; no one can contend with someone who is stronger.
