Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him who argues with God give an answer.

“强辩者岂可与全能者争论？与上帝辩驳的人请作出答复。”

“挑剔是非的，怎能与全能者争辩呢？责备神的，回答这个问题吧。”

強辯的豈可與全能者爭論嗎？與神辯駁的可以回答這些吧！

「強辯的豈可與全能者爭論？與上帝辯駁的可以回答吧！」

「強辯的豈可與全能者爭論？與神辯駁的可以回答吧！」

「強辯者豈可與全能者爭論？與上帝辯駁的人請作出答覆。」

“挑剔是非的，怎能與全能者爭辯呢？責備神的，回答這個問題吧。”

『好辯的哪可同全能者挑剔是非呢？譴責上帝的儘管回答呀。』

好駁折者、可與全能者爭論乎、與上帝辯者、尚其答之、

我全能之上帝也、爾昔欲與我辨、今何詞以對。

好辯者、欲與全能之主爭乎、與天主辯者、今可答之、

“ Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!”

“ I am the Mighty One. Will the man who argues with me correct me? Let him who brings charges against me answer me!”

“ Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

“ Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?”

Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who argues with God give an answer.

“ Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who rebukes God give an answer.”

“ Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it.”

Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it.

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct[ him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

“ Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”

“ Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

For who has known the Lord’s mind, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Why do you take Him to court for not answering anything a person asks?

Who did He consult with? Who gave Him understanding and taught Him the paths of justice? Who taught Him knowledge and showed Him the way of understanding?

remove Your hand from me, and do not let Your terror frighten me.Then call, and I will answer, or I will speak, and You can respond to me.How many iniquities and sins have I committed? Reveal to me my transgression and sin.Why do You hide Your face and consider me Your enemy?Will You frighten a wind-driven leaf? Will You chase after dry straw?For You record bitter accusations against me and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.You put my feet in the stocks and stand watch over all my paths, setting a limit for the soles of my feet.

For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?Or who has ever first given to Him, and has to be repaid?For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

He batters me with a whirlwind and multiplies my wounds without cause.He doesn’t let me catch my breath but soaks me with bitter experiences.

Why is life given to a man whose path is hidden, whom God has hedged in?

“ Woe to the one who argues with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it,‘ What are you making?’ Or does your work say,‘ He has no hands’?How absurd is the one who says to his father,‘ What are you fathering?’ or to his mother,‘ What are you giving birth to?’”This is what the Lord, the Holy One of Israel and its Maker, says:“ Ask Me what is to happen to My sons, and instruct Me about the work of My hands.

If one wanted to take Him to court, he could not answer God once in a thousand times.

“ What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel: The fathers eat sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?

then understand that it is God who has wronged me and caught me in His net.I cry out:“ Violence!” but get no response; I call for help, but there is no justice.He has blocked my way so that I cannot pass through; He has veiled my paths with darkness.He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head.He tears me down on every side so that I am ruined. He uproots my hope like a tree.His anger burns against me, and He regards me as one of His enemies.

Why is light given to one burdened with grief, and life to those whose existence is bitter,

As God lives, who has deprived me of justice, and the Almighty who has made me bitter,

You will say to me, therefore,“ Why then does He still find fault? For who can resist His will?”But who are you, a mere man, to talk back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ Why did you make me like this?”Or has the potter no right over the clay, to make from the same lump one piece of pottery for honor and another for dishonor?And what if God, desiring to display His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience objects of wrath ready for destruction?And what if He did this to make known the riches of His glory on objects of mercy that He prepared beforehand for glory—

The One who vindicates Me is near; who will contend with Me? Let us confront each other. Who has a case against Me? Let him come near Me!

When they received it, they began to complain to the landowner:

Is it good for You to oppress, to reject the work of Your hands, and favor the plans of the wicked?Do You have eyes of flesh, or do You see as a human sees?Are Your days like those of a human, or Your years like those of a man,that You look for my wrongdoing and search for my sin,even though You know that I am not wicked and that there is no one who can deliver from Your hand?

For then You would count my steps but would not take note of my sin.My rebellion would be sealed up in a bag, and You would cover over my iniquity.

Will You ever look away from me, or leave me alone long enough to swallow?If I have sinned, what have I done to You, Watcher of mankind? Why have You made me Your target, so that I have become a burden to You?Why not forgive my sin and pardon my transgression? For soon I will lie down in the grave. You will eagerly seek me, but I will be gone.

For He is not a man like me, that I can answer Him, that we can take each other to court.There is no one to judge between us, to lay his hand on both of us.Let Him take His rod away from me so His terror will no longer frighten me.Then I would speak and not fear Him. But that is not the case; I am on my own.

if I sin, You would notice, and would not acquit me of my wrongdoing.If I am wicked, woe to me! And even if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head. I am filled with shame and aware of my affliction.If I am proud, You hunt me like a lion and again display Your miraculous power against me.You produce new witnesses against me and multiply Your anger toward me. Hardships assault me, wave after wave.

Why was I not stillborn; why didn’t I die as I came from the womb?Why did the knees receive me, and why were there breasts for me to nurse?

Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

You have turned against me with cruelty; You harass me with Your strong hand.

Am I the sea or a sea monster, that You keep me under guard?

God hands me over to unjust men; He throws me into the hands of the wicked.I was at ease, but He shattered me; He seized me by the scruff of the neck and smashed me to pieces. He set me up as His target;His archers surround me. He pierces my kidneys without mercy and pours my bile on the ground.He breaks through my defenses again and again; He charges at me like a warrior.I have sewn sackcloth over my skin; I have buried my strength in the dust.My face has grown red with weeping, and darkness covers my eyes,although my hands are free from violence and my prayer is pure.Earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry for help find no resting place.Even now my witness is in heaven, and my advocate is in the heights!My friends scoff at me as I weep before God.I wish that someone might arbitrate between a man and God just as a man pleads for his friend.

Whatever exists was given its name long ago, and it is known what man is. But he is not able to contend with the One stronger than he.
