其中幕索、非見奪乎、未得智慧、而隕亡焉、

顯庸之人、閱歷未深、而早沒世。

其中至尊至貴者、非亦長往乎、非皆死於愚昧之中乎、或作其生命之線既斷則死於無知之中

Are not the cords of their tent pulled up, so that they die without wisdom?’

Like a tent that falls down, they get weak. They die because they didn’t follow God’s wisdom.’ ”

Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them, do they not die, and that without wisdom?’

Are their tent cords not pulled up? They die without wisdom.

Is their tent cord not pulled out within them? They die, yet without wisdom.’

Does not their own excellence go away? They die, even without wisdom.’

Doth not their excellency[ which is] in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.

Is not their excess wealth taken away from them? They die, yet without attaining wisdom.

But if they refuse to listen to him, they will cross over the river of death, dying from lack of understanding.

“ Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried,and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the home of the wicked will be destroyed.”

People who boast of their wealth don’t understand; they will die, just like animals.

The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements.

They will say,‘ This was the home of a wicked person, the place of one who rejected God.’”

Everyone there will stare at you and ask,‘ Can this be the one who shook the earth and made the kingdoms of the world tremble?

Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

When you discipline us for our sins, you consume like a moth what is precious to us. Each of us is but a breath. Interlude

Like sheep, they are led to the grave, where death will be their shepherd. In the morning the godly will rule over them. Their bodies will rot in the grave, far from their grand estates.

Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?

You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude
