They laugh at all the noise in town. They do not hear the shouts of the donkey drivers.

He scorns the tumult of the city; he hears not the shouts of the driver.

It hates the noise of the city and has no driver to shout at it.

It scoffs at the noise of the village and never hears the shouts of a driver.

He laughs at the turmoil of the city, He does not hear the shouting of the taskmaster.

This is what the Lord says to me:“ As a lion growls, a great lion over its prey— and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it, it is not frightened by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor— so the Lord Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights.

The slave drivers kept pressing them, saying,“ Complete the work required of you for each day, just as when you had straw.”And Pharaoh’s slave drivers beat the Israelite overseers they had appointed, demanding,“ Why haven’t you met your quota of bricks yesterday or today, as before?”Then the Israelite overseers went and appealed to Pharaoh:“ Why have you treated your servants this way?Your servants are given no straw, yet we are told,‘ Make bricks!’ Your servants are being beaten, but the fault is with your own people.”

Yet when she spreads her feathers to run, she laughs at horse and rider.

Now get to work. You will not be given any straw, yet you must produce your full quota of bricks.”

‘ Why have we fasted,’ they say,‘ and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’“ Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.
