But he also turns deserts into pools of water, the dry land into springs of water.

He covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, and makes the grass grow in mountain pastures.He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry.

Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses.Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel or the plain of Sharon. There the Lord will display his glory, the splendor of our God.

He draws up the water vapor and then distills it into rain.

When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God’s blessing.But if a field bears thorns and thistles, it is useless. The farmer will soon condemn that field and burn it.

Can any of the worthless foreign gods send us rain? Does it fall from the sky by itself? No, you are the one, O Lord our God! Only you can do such things. So we will wait for you to help us.

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed.

You make springs pour water into the ravines, so streams gush down from the mountains.They provide water for all the animals, and the wild donkeys quench their thirst.The birds nest beside the streams and sing among the branches of the trees.You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor.You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth—

I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. I will fill the desert with pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground.I will plant trees in the barren desert— cedar, acacia, myrtle, olive, cypress, fir, and pine.
