Why do the wicked live and become old, Yes, become mighty in power?Their descendants are established with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes.Their houses are safe from fear, Neither is the rod of God upon them.

But He saves the needy from the sword, From the mouth of the mighty, And from their hand.

Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;For the Lord will plead their cause, And plunder the soul of those who plunder them.

“ You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry;and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble.

God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods.How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? SelahDefend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy.Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked.

Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper.The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban.I was eyes to the blind, And I was feet to the lame.I was a father to the poor, And I searched out the case that I did not know.I broke the fangs of the wicked, And plucked the victim from his teeth.

For the wicked are reserved for the day of doom; They shall be brought out on the day of wrath.

He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor.

But You, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in You.

then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

Righteous are You, O Lord, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously?You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; They grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth But far from their mind.

But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, To repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, And the dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing.”
