Why do the wicked still live, Grow old, and also become very powerful?Their descendants endure with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes,Their houses are safe from fear, And the rod of God is not on them.

But He saves from the sword of their mouth, And the poor from the hand of the strong.

Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Nor crush the needy at the gate;For the Lord will plead their case And take the life of those who rob them.

You shall not oppress any widow or orphan.If you oppress him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will assuredly hear his cry;and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

For He who requires blood remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the needy.

God takes His position in His assembly; He judges in the midst of the gods.How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked? SelahVindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.Rescue the weak and needy; Save them from the hand of the wicked.

Because I saved the poor who cried for help, And the orphan who had no helper.The blessing of the one who was about to perish came upon me, And I made the widow’s heart sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a headband.I was eyes to those who were blind, And feet to those who could not walk.I was a father to the poor, And I investigated the case which I did not know.I broke the jaws of the wicked And rescued the prey from his teeth.

For the wicked person is spared a day of disaster; They are led away from a day of fury.

May he vindicate the afflicted of the people, Save the children of the needy, And crush the oppressor.

But You, God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; Men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.

then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

Righteous are You, Lord, when I plead my case with You; Nevertheless I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?You have planted them, they have also taken root; They grow, they have also produced fruit. You are near to their lips But far from their mind.

You have seen it, for You have looked at harm and provocation to take it into Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You have been the helper of the orphan.Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer, Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the humble of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, And the tent of the wicked will no longer exist.”
