Will you destroy the whole city because five are lacking?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”Abraham spoke to him again,“ What if forty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not do it for the sake of the forty.”Then Abraham said,“ May the Lord not be angry so that I may speak! What if thirty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not do it if I find thirty there.”Abraham said,“ Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty.”Finally Abraham said,“ May the Lord not be angry so that I may speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”The LORD went on his way when he had finished speaking to Abraham. Then Abraham returned home.

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will intercede for you, and I will respect him, so that I do not deal with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has.”

So when God destroyed the cities of the region, God honored Abraham’s request. He removed Lot from the midst of the destruction when he destroyed the cities Lot had lived in.

Phinehas took a stand and intervened, and the plague subsided.

By faith Noah, when he was warned about things not yet seen, with reverent regard constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family. Through faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.

But the Israelites disobeyed the command about the city’s riches. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, stole some of the riches. The LORD was furious with the Israelites.Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai( which is located near Beth Aven, east of Bethel) and instructed them,“ Go up and spy on the land.” So the men went up and spied on Ai.They returned and reported to Joshua,“ Don’t send the whole army. About two or three thousand men are adequate to defeat Ai. Don’t tire out the whole army, for Ai is small.”So about three thousand men went up, but they fled from the men of Ai.The men of Ai killed about thirty-six of them and chased them from in front of the city gate all the way to the fissures and defeated them on the steep slope. The people’s courage melted away like water.
