「這許多的話豈不該回答嗎？多嘴多舌的人豈可成為義呢？你誇大的話豈能使人不作聲嗎？你戲笑的時候豈沒有人使你受辱嗎？

「你以為這話有理，說：『我在上帝面前是公義的。』你說：『這對你有甚麼益處？我不犯罪有甚麼好處呢？』

「如今我的哀告還算為悖逆；我雖唉哼，他的手仍然重重責罰我。

「這些話你要說到幾時？你口中的言語如狂風要到幾時呢？上帝豈能偏離公平？全能者豈能偏離公義？

所以約伯開口說虛妄的話，多多發表無知識的言語。」

耶和華對約伯說話以後，耶和華就對提幔人以利法說：「我的怒氣向你和你兩個朋友發作，因為你們議論我，不如我的僕人約伯說的正確。
