to keep the godless from ruling, from laying snares for the people.

He keeps those who are ungodly from ruling. He keeps them from laying traps for others.

that a godless man should not reign, that he should not ensnare the people.

He prevents the godless from ruling so they cannot be a snare to the people.

So that godless people would not rule, Nor be snares for the people.

That the hypocrite should not reign, Lest the people be ensnared.

That the godless man reign not, That there be none to ensnare the people.

For His eyes watch over a man’s ways, and He observes all his steps.

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; he had two horns like a lamb, but he sounded like a dragon.He exercises all the authority of the first beast on his behalf and compels the earth and those who live on it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.He also performs great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in front of people.He deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs that he is permitted to perform on behalf of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image of the beast who had the sword wound and yet lived.

When the righteous flourish, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, people groan.A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but one who consorts with prostitutes destroys his wealth.By justice a king brings stability to a land, but a man who demands“ contributions” demolishes it.A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.An evil man is caught by sin, but the righteous one sings and rejoices.The righteous person knows the rights of the poor, but the wicked one does not understand these concerns.Mockers inflame a city, but the wise turn away anger.If a wise man goes to court with a fool, there will be ranting and raving but no resolution.Bloodthirsty men hate an honest person, but the upright care about him.A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man holds it in check.If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials will be wicked.

The wicked wander everywhere, and what is worthless is exalted by the human race.

One of his heads appeared to be fatally wounded, but his fatal wound was healed. The whole earth was amazed and followed the beast.They worshiped the dragon because he gave authority to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying,“ Who is like the beast? Who is able to wage war against him?”

But they did not listen; Manasseh caused them to stray so that they did greater evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites.

I give you a king in My anger and take away a king in My wrath.

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s sanctuary, publicizing that he himself is God.Don’t you remember that when I was still with you I told you about this?And you know what currently restrains him, so that he will be revealed in his time.For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one now restraining will do so until he is out of the way,and then the lawless one will be revealed. The Lord Jesus will destroy him with the breath of His mouth and will bring him to nothing with the brightness of His coming.The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with all kinds of false miracles, signs, and wonders,and with every unrighteous deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth in order to be saved.For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false,

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much good.
