But when God is silent, who can declare him guilty? When he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he watches over both individuals and nations,

上帝安人、誰能罪之、上帝掩面、誰能覲之、於國於人皆然、

主所福、誰能禍之、主所禍、誰能福之、其待人或一國、或匹夫、無二理也。

天主賜人綏安、誰能擾亂、天主若掩面、誰能覲之、其待一國待一人皆如是、

But if he remains silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he is over individual and nation alike,

But if he remains silent, who can judge him? If he turns his face away, who can see him? He rules over individual people and nations alike.

When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—

But if he chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation.

When He keeps quiet, who can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can look at Him, That is, regarding both nation and a person?—

When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when He hides His face, who then can see Him, Whether it is against a nation or a man alone?—

When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Alike whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man:

But when God is silent, who can declare Him guilty? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both individuals and nations,

But if God is quiet, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet he is over the individual and the nation alike,

But he is unchangeable; who can oppose him? He does what he desires.

You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.

Do not hide your face from me; do not turn your servant away in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation.

How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

Job continued his discourse, saying:If only I could be as in months gone by, in the days when God watched over me,when his lamp shone above my head, and I walked through darkness by his light!

LORD, when you showed your favor, you made me stand like a strong mountain; when you hid your face, I was terrified.

When the LORD gives you rest from your pain, torment, and the hard labor you were forced to do,you will sing this song of contempt about the king of Babylon and say: How the oppressor has quieted down, and how the raging has become quiet!The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers.It struck the peoples in anger with unceasing blows. It subdued the nations in rage with relentless persecution.The whole earth is calm and at rest; people shout with a ringing cry.Even the cypresses and the cedars of Lebanon rejoice over you:“ Since you have been laid low, no lumberjack has come against us.”

Answer me quickly, LORD; my spirit fails. Don’t hide your face from me, or I will be like those going down to the Pit.

“‘“ As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and does not place its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation I will punish by sword, famine, and plague— this is the LORD’s declaration— until through him I have destroyed it.

What, then, are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?He did not even spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything?Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies.Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

If I go east, he is not there, and if I go west, I cannot perceive him.When he is at work to the north, I cannot see him; when he turns south, I cannot find him.

The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.

All the leaders of the priests and the people multiplied their unfaithful deeds, imitating all the detestable practices of the nations, and they defiled the LORD’s temple that he had consecrated in Jerusalem.But the LORD, the God of their ancestors sent word against them by the hand of his messengers, sending them time and time again, for he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising his words, and scoffing at his prophets, until the LORD’s wrath was so stirred up against his people that there was no remedy.So he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their fit young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary. He had no pity on young men or young women, elderly or aged; he handed them all over to him.

Whatever he tears down cannot be rebuilt; whoever he imprisons cannot be released.

In the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Israel’s King Hoshea, Samaria was captured.The king of Assyria deported the Israelites to Assyria and put them in Halah, along the Habor( Gozan’s river), and in the cities of the Medes,because they did not listen to the LORD their God but violated his covenant— all he had commanded Moses the servant of the LORD. They did not listen, and they did not obey.

“ Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.

When the king had settled into his palace and the LORD had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,
