“我後悔立了掃羅為王，因為他已經離去不跟隨我，也不執行我的命令了。”撒母耳非常忿怒，整夜哀求耶和華。

在他們的筵席上，有琴、瑟、手鼓、笛和酒，但他們不理耶和華的作為，也不留心他手所作的。

他們既然不關心耶和華的作為，和他手所作的，耶和華就必拆毀他們，不建立他們。

但我們不是那些後退以致滅亡的人，而是有信心以致保全生命的人。

但保羅認為不應帶他去，因為他從前在旁非利亞離開過他們，不跟他們一起去作工。

因為底馬貪愛現今的世界，就離棄我到帖撒羅尼迦去了。革勒士去了加拉太，提多去了達馬太。

那些轉離不跟從耶和華的，不尋找耶和華，也不求問他的。”

“現在你們要反省，從今日起回想過往，就是在耶和華的殿還沒有一塊石頭疊在另一塊石頭上面以前，那時你們怎樣呢？有人到穀堆來，想得兩百公斤穀，卻只得一百公斤；有人到榨酒池去，想從酒槽得一百公升酒，卻只得四十公升。耶和華說：‘我用旱風、霉爛和冰雹擊打你們，和你們手裡的一切工作，你們還是不歸向我。你們要反省，從今日起回想過往，就是自九月二十四日起，從耶和華殿的奠基日開始，你們要反省：倉裡還有種子嗎？葡萄樹、無花果樹、石榴樹和橄欖樹，豈是還沒有結果子嗎？從今日起，我必賜福。’”

因為他們恨惡知識，不選擇敬畏耶和華；不接受我的勸告，輕視我的一切責備；

凡有智慧的，願他留意這些事；願他思想耶和華的慈愛。

至於那些偏行彎曲道路的人，耶和華必把他們和作惡的人一同除去。願平安歸於以色列。

當那日，人在房頂上，器具在屋裡，不要下來拿；在田裡的，照樣不要回家。應當記著羅得的妻子的教訓。

牛認識主人，驢認識主人的槽；以色列卻不認識我，我的子民不明白我。”
