設有天使千中之一、與之同在、為之解釋、示人所當為者、

時有使者、才德異眾、以上帝之道明示之、

千天使中若有一天使為其人作保、以人所當為之正事明示之、

Yet if there is an angel at their side, a messenger, one out of a thousand, sent to tell them how to be upright,

“ But suppose there is an angel who will speak up for him. The angel is very special. He’s one out of a thousand. He will tell that person how to do what is right.

If there be for him an angel, a mediator, one of the thousand, to declare to man what is right for him,

If there is an angel on his side, one mediator out of a thousand, to tell a person what is right for him

“ If there is an interceding angel for him, One out of a thousand, To remind a person of what is right for him,

“ If there is a messenger for him, A mediator, one among a thousand, To show man His uprightness,

If there be with him an angel, An interpreter, one among a thousand, To show unto man what is right for him;

If there is an angel on his side, one mediator out of a thousand, to tell a person what is right for him

If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

If there is an angel beside him, one mediator out of a thousand, to tell a person what constitutes his uprightness;

“ If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him;

“ Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Though I have searched repeatedly, I have not found what I was looking for. Only one out of a thousand men is virtuous, but not one woman!

Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.

The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said to the Israelites,“ I brought you out of Egypt into this land that I swore to give your ancestors, and I said I would never break my covenant with you.

Every time you punished us you were being just. We have sinned greatly, and you gave us only what we deserved.

Therefore, the Lord has brought upon us the disaster he prepared. The Lord our God was right to do all of these things, for we did not obey him.

“ Yet you say,‘ The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you?When righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things, they will die for it. Yes, they will die because of their sinful deeds.And if wicked people turn from their wickedness, obey the law, and do what is just and right, they will save their lives.They will live because they thought it over and decided to turn from their sins. Such people will not die.

That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died.But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

Truly, God will not do wrong. The Almighty will not twist justice.

You say you can’t see him, but he will bring justice if you will only wait.

If only he would tell you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom is not a simple matter. Listen! God is doubtless punishing you far less than you deserve!

“ Listen to me, you who have understanding. Everyone knows that God doesn’t sin! The Almighty can do no wrong.

We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; but even though he is just and righteous, he does not destroy us.

Then why should we, mere humans, complain when we are punished for our sins?Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord.Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven and say,

If someone wanted to take God to court, would it be possible to answer him even once in a thousand times?

Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave the people this message from the Lord:“ I am with you, says the Lord!”

Joyful are those you discipline, Lord, those you teach with your instructions.

I will present profound arguments for the righteousness of my Creator.

If they are bound in chains and caught up in a web of trouble,he shows them the reason. He shows them their sins of pride.He gets their attention and commands that they turn from evil.“ If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant.But if they refuse to listen to him, they will cross over the river of death, dying from lack of understanding.For the godless are full of resentment. Even when he punishes them, they refuse to cry out to him for help.

“ The words of a priest’s lips should preserve knowledge of God, and people should go to him for instruction, for the priest is the messenger of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Or‘ I don’t know what evil I have done— tell me. If I have done wrong, I will stop at once’?

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead,“ Come back to God!”

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,“ My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all.Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness.No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening— it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

I know, O Lord, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it.

The Lord, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple.But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the Lord’s anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done.

Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked,“ Do you understand what you are reading?”

I am saying all this especially for you Gentiles. God has appointed me as the apostle to the Gentiles. I stress this,
