“ A person is also rebuked by pain in his bed, And with constant complaint in his bones,

“人在床上被惩治，骨头中不住地疼痛，

“人因受罚而卧病在床，骨头疼痛不止，

人在牀上被懲治，骨頭中不住地疼痛，

「人在床上被疼痛懲治，骨頭不住地掙扎，

「人在床上被疼痛懲治，骨頭不住地掙扎，

「人因受罰而臥病在床，骨頭疼痛不止，

人在床上被痛苦懲治，他的骨頭不住地痛苦掙扎，

『人在床上被管教於苦痛中，他骨頭的掙扎常年不斷；

人臥於牀、被懲以苦、骨中疼痛、歷久不已、

惟使之負痛迫切、偃息在床、遘疾纏綿、害入骨髓。

有時使其病臥於床、負痛以責之、使之遘疾、痛楚難堪、深入骨髓、

“ Or someone may be chastened on a bed of pain with constant distress in their bones,

Someone might be punished by suffering in bed. The pain in their bones might never go away.

“ Man is also rebuked with pain on his bed and with continual strife in his bones,

“ Or God disciplines people with pain on their sickbeds, with ceaseless aching in their bones.

A person may be disciplined on his bed with pain and constant distress in his bones,

“ Man is also chastened with pain on his bed, And with strong pain in many of his bones,

He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, And with continual strife in his bones;

A person may be disciplined on his bed with pain and constant distress in his bones,

He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong[ pain]:

Or a person is chastened by pain on his bed, and with the continual strife of his bones,

He is chastened also with pain on his bed, with continual strife in his bones,

At night it pierces my bones within me, And my gnawing pains do not rest.

“ Behold, happy is the person whom God disciplines, So do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.For He inflicts pain, and gives relief; He wounds, but His hands also heal.

Did the gods of the nations which my fathers destroyed save them: Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the sons of Eden who were in Telassar?Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, and of Hena and Ivvah?’ ”

In the thirty ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.

But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

It is good for me that I was afflicted, So that I may learn Your statutes.

Blessed is the man whom You discipline, Lord, And whom You teach from Your Law,

Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him for this. And Asa mistreated some of the people at the same time.

So you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

When I lie down, I say,‘ When shall I arise?’ But the night continues, And I am continually tossing until dawn.

His bones are full of his youthful strength, But it lies down with him in the dust.

Before I was afflicted I went astray, But now I keep Your word.

Lord, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, And do not punish me in Your burning anger.For Your arrows have sunk deep into me, And Your hand has pressed down on me.There is no healthy part in my flesh because of Your indignation; There is no health in my bones because of my sin.For my guilty deeds have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.My wounds grow foul and fester Because of my foolishness.I am bent over and greatly bowed down; I go in mourning all day long.For my sides are filled with burning, And there is no healthy part in my flesh.I feel faint and badly crushed; I groan because of the agitation of my heart.

Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.

Therefore through this Jacob’s wrongdoing will be forgiven; And this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin: When he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalk stones; When Asherim and incense altars will not stand.
