It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.

Older people aren’t the only ones who are wise. They aren’t the only ones who understand what is right.

Sometimes the elders are not wise. Sometimes the aged do not understand justice.

The abundant in years may not be wise, Nor may elders understand justice.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.

He deprives trusted advisers of speech and takes away the elders’ good judgment.

Yet you dishonored that poor man. Don’t the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?Don’t they blaspheme the noble name that was pronounced over you at your baptism?

Better is a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer pays attention to warnings.

On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory.None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Brothers, consider your calling: Not many are wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?

I will go to the powerful and speak to them. Surely they know the way of the Lord, the justice of their God. However, these also had broken the yoke and torn off the chains.
