你们切不可说：我们寻得智慧；神能胜他，人却不能。

你们不要说，‘我们找到了智慧，使他折服的是上帝而非人。’

你们不要说：‘我们寻得了智慧；能胜过他的，是神，不是人。’

勿謂我儕得見智慧、惟上帝能折之、人則不能、

是理有未明故也、能斥之者惟上帝、人則不能。

恐爾言、我儕雖得智慧、亦徒然也、能駁駁或作斥之者惟天主、人則不能、

Do not say,‘ We have found wisdom; let God, not a man, refute him.’

Don’t claim,‘ We have enough wisdom to answer Job.’ Let God, not a mere man, prove that he’s wrong.

Beware lest you say,‘ We have found wisdom; God may vanquish him, not a man.’

And don’t tell me,‘ He is too wise for us. Only God can convince him.’

So do not claim,“ We have found wisdom; let God deal with him, not man.”

So do not say,‘ We have found wisdom: God will defeat him, not man.’

Lest you say,‘ We have found wisdom’; God will vanquish him, not man.

Beware lest ye say, We have found wisdom; God may vanquish him, not man:

So do not claim,“ We have found wisdom; let God deal with him, not man.”

Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

So do not say,‘ We have found wisdom! God will refute him, not man!’

Beware lest you say,‘ We have found wisdom. God may refute him, not man;’

This is what the Lord says:“ Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, (niv)

“ Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me. (niv)

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become“ fools” so that you may become wise. (niv)

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. (niv)

that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say,‘ I made Abram rich.’ (niv)

Do you listen in on God’s council? Do you have a monopoly on wisdom?What do you know that we do not know? What insights do you have that we do not have?The gray-haired and the aged are on our side, men even older than your father. (niv)

The Lord said to Gideon,“ You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me,‘ My own strength has saved me.’ (niv)

For it is written:“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Are you wiser than Daniel? Is no secret hidden from you? (niv)

The arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors are marshaled against me. (niv)

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things— and the things that are not— to nullify the things that are,so that no one may boast before him. (niv)

They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say,‘ Yes, I knew of them.’ (niv)

“ Doubtless you are the only people who matter, and wisdom will die with you! (niv)

At the breath of God they perish; at the blast of his anger they are no more. (niv)

Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say,‘ My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.’ (niv)
