If my heart has been enticed by a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

我的心若迷恋女人，在邻居的门口窥探，

我的心若被女人迷惑，在别人的门口埋伏，

我若受迷惑，向婦人起淫念，在鄰舍的門外蹲伏，

「我心若因婦人受迷惑，在鄰舍的門外等候，

「我心若因婦人受迷惑，在鄰舍的門外等候，

我的心若迷戀女人，在鄰居的門口窺探，

我的心若被女人迷惑，在別人的門口埋伏，

『我的心若因人的妻子而受迷惑，而在鄰舍門外蹲伏着，

如我心為婦女所惑、窺伺鄰舍之門、

如我為婦女所惑、或瞷人不在而誘其妻、

如我心為婦女所惑、如我心為婦女所惑或作若我心迷惑向婦女起淫念在比鄰之門外窺伺、

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

“ Suppose my heart has been tempted by a woman. Or suppose I’ve prowled around my neighbor’s home.

“ If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been seduced by a woman, or if I have lusted for my neighbor’s wife,

If my heart has gone astray over a woman or I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or I have lurked at my neighbor’s doorway,

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

If my heart hath been enticed unto a woman, And I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door;

If my heart has been seduced by my neighbor’s wife or I have lurked at his door,

If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or[ if] I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;

“ If my heart has been enticed to a woman, and I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door,

The rulers of the Philistines went up to visit her and said to her,“ Trick him! Find out what makes him so strong and how we can subdue him and humiliate him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred silver pieces.”

I discovered this: More bitter than death is the kind of woman who is like a hunter’s snare; her heart is like a hunter’s net and her hands are like prison chains. The man who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is captured by her.

When Solomon became old, his wives shifted his allegiance to other gods; he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his father David had been.

Was it not because of things like these that King Solomon of Israel sinned? Among the many nations there was no king like him. He was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. But the foreign wives made even him sin!

They are like lusty, well-fed stallions. Each of them lusts after his neighbor’s wife.

The mouth of an adulteress is like a deep pit; the one against whom the LORD is angry will fall into it.

They are all like bakers, they are like a smoldering oven; they are like a baker who does not stoke the fire until the kneaded dough is ready for baking.

And the eye of the adulterer watches for the twilight, thinking,‘ No eye can see me,’ and covers his face with a mask.In the dark the robber breaks into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they do not know the light.

to deliver you from the adulteress, from the sexually loose woman who speaks flattering words;who leaves the husband from her younger days, and forgets her marriage covenant made before God.For her house sinks down to death, and her paths lead to the place of the departed spirits.None who go in to her will return, nor will they reach the paths of life.

Do not lust in your heart for her beauty, and do not let her captivate you with her alluring eyes;

She persuaded him with persuasive words; with her smooth talk she compelled him.

For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her seductive words are smoother than olive oil,but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.Lest she should make level the path leading to life, her paths are unstable but she does not know it.So now, children, listen to me; do not turn aside from the words I speak.Keep yourself far from her, and do not go near the door of her house,lest you give your vigor to others and your years to a cruel person,lest strangers devour your strength, and your labor benefit another man’s house.And at the end of your life you will groan when your flesh and your body are wasted away.And you will say,“ How I hated discipline! My heart spurned reproof!For I did not obey my teachers and I did not heed my instructors.I almost came to complete ruin in the midst of the whole congregation!”Drink water from your own cistern and running water from your own well.Should your springs be dispersed outside, your streams of water in the wide plazas?Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you.May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in your young wife–a loving doe, a graceful deer; may her breasts satisfy you at all times, may you be captivated by her love always.But why should you be captivated, my son, by an adulteress, and embrace the bosom of a different woman?For the ways of a person are in front of the LORD’s eyes, and the LORD weighs all that person’s paths.The wicked will be captured by his own iniquities, and he will be held by the cords of his own sin.He will die because there was no discipline; because of the greatness of his folly he will reel.
