“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or I have lurked at my neighbor’s doorway,

我的心若迷恋女人，在邻居的门口窥探，

我的心若被女人迷惑，在别人的门口埋伏，

我若受迷惑，向婦人起淫念，在鄰舍的門外蹲伏，

「我心若因婦人受迷惑，在鄰舍的門外等候，

「我心若因婦人受迷惑，在鄰舍的門外等候，

我的心若迷戀女人，在鄰居的門口窺探，

我的心若被女人迷惑，在別人的門口埋伏，

『我的心若因人的妻子而受迷惑，而在鄰舍門外蹲伏着，

如我心為婦女所惑、窺伺鄰舍之門、

如我為婦女所惑、或瞷人不在而誘其妻、

如我心為婦女所惑、如我心為婦女所惑或作若我心迷惑向婦女起淫念在比鄰之門外窺伺、

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

“ Suppose my heart has been tempted by a woman. Or suppose I’ve prowled around my neighbor’s home.

“ If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been seduced by a woman, or if I have lusted for my neighbor’s wife,

If my heart has gone astray over a woman or I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been enticed by a woman, Or if I have lurked at my neighbor’s door,

If my heart hath been enticed unto a woman, And I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door;

If my heart has been seduced by my neighbor’s wife or I have lurked at his door,

If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or[ if] I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;

If my heart has been enticed by a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door,

“ If my heart has been enticed to a woman, and I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door,

So the governors of the Philistines came up to her and said to her,“ Entice him, and see where his great strength lies and how we can overpower him so that we may bind him to humble him. Then we will each give you 1,100 pieces of silver.”

And I discovered as more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.

For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away to follow other gods; and his heart was not wholly devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of his father David had been.

Did Solomon the king of Israel not sin regarding these things? Yet among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet the foreign women caused even him to sin.

They were well fed lusty horses, Each one neighing at his neighbor’s wife.

The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; He who is cursed of the Lord will fall into it.

They are all adulterers, Like an oven heated by the baker, Who stops stoking the fire From the time the dough is kneaded until it is leavened.

The eye of the adulterer watches for twilight, Saying,‘ No eye will see me.’ And he disguises his face.In the darkness they dig into houses, They shut themselves up by day; They do not know the light.

To rescue you from the strange woman, From the foreign woman who flatters with her words,Who leaves the companion of her youth And forgets the covenant of her God;For her house sinks down to death, And her tracks lead to the dead;None who go to her return, Nor do they reach the paths of life.

Do not desire her beauty in your heart, Nor let her capture you with her eyelids.

With her many persuasions she entices him; With her flattering lips she seduces him.

For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, And her speech is smoother than oil;But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two edged sword.Her feet go down to death, Her steps take hold of Sheol.She does not ponder the path of life; Her ways are unstable, she does not know it.Now then, my sons, listen to me And do not turn away from the words of my mouth.Keep your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house,Otherwise you will give your vigor to others, And your years to the cruel one;And strangers will be filled with your strength, And your hard earned possessions will go to the house of a foreigner;And you will groan in the end, When your flesh and your body are consumed;And you say,“ How I hated instruction! And my heart disdainfully rejected rebuke!I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, Nor incline my ear to my instructors!I was almost in total ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”Drink water from your own cistern, And fresh water from your own well.Should your springs overflow into the street, Streams of water in the public squares?Let them be yours alone, And not for strangers with you.Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth.Like a loving doe and a graceful mountain goat, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress, And embrace the breasts of a foreigner?For the ways of everyone are before the eyes of the Lord, And He observes all his paths.His own wrongdoings will trap the wicked, And he will be held by the ropes of his sin.He will die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his foolishness he will go astray.
