(“ Oh, that I had someone to hear me! I sign now my defense— let the Almighty answer me; let my accuser put his indictment in writing.

“ If only someone would listen to me! Look, I will sign my name to my defense. Let the Almighty answer me. Let my accuser write out the charges against me.

If only I had someone to hear my case! Here is my signature; let the Almighty answer me. Let my Opponent compose his indictment.

Oh that I had one to hear me! Here is my signature; Let the Almighty answer me! And the indictment which my adversary has written,

Oh, that I had one to hear me! Here is my mark. Oh, that the Almighty would answer me, That my Prosecutor had written a book!

Oh that I had one to hear me!( Lo, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me) And that I had the indictment which mine adversary hath written!

If only I had someone to hear my case! Here is my signature; let the Almighty answer me. Let my Opponent compose His indictment.

Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire[ is, that] the Almighty would answer me, and[ that] mine adversary had written a book.

“ If only I had someone to hear me! Here is my signature– let the Almighty answer me! If only I had an indictment that my accuser had written.

oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me! Let the accuser write my indictment!

Stop treating me this way. And stop making me so afraid.Then send for me, and I’ll answer. Or let me speak, and you reply.

“ I wish my words were written down! I wish they were written in a book!I wish they were cut into lead with an iron tool! I wish they were carved in rock forever!

“ I’m not worthy. How can I reply to you? I’m putting my hand over my mouth. I’ll stop talking.I spoke once. But I really don’t have any answer. I spoke twice. But I won’t say anything else.”

The Lord spoke to Job out of a storm. He said,“ Who do you think you are to disagree with my plans? You do not know what you are talking about.Get ready to stand up for yourself. I will ask you some questions. Then I want you to answer me.

I wish I knew where I could find him! I wish I could go to the place where he lives!I would state my case to him. I’d give him all my arguments.I’d find out what his answers would be. I’d think about what he would say to me.Would he strongly oppose me? No. He wouldn’t bring charges against me.There honest people can prove to him they’re not guilty. There my Judge would tell me once and for all that I’m not guilty.

So he certainly won’t listen to you. When you say you don’t see him, he won’t hear you. He won’t listen when you state your case to him. He won’t pay attention even if you wait for him.

“ May my enemies suffer like sinful people! May my attackers be punished like those who aren’t fair!

“ Suppose someone has a claim against you and is taking you to court. Settle the matter quickly. Do this while you are still together on the way. If you don’t, you may be handed over to the judge. The judge may hand you over to the officer to be thrown into prison.

My skin has become dark, but the sun didn’t do it. I stand up in the community and cry out for help.

Lord, when you hand down your sentence, let it be in my favor. I have lived without blame. I have trusted in the Lord. I have never doubted him.

His anger burns against me. He thinks I’m one of his enemies.

“ I cry out,‘ Someone harmed me!’ But I don’t get any reply. I call out for help. But I’m not treated fairly.

But God has found fault with me. He thinks I’m his enemy.He puts my feet in chains. He watches every step I take.’

Why do you turn your face away from me? Why do you think of me as your enemy?

In fact, I long to speak to the Mighty One. I want to argue my case with God.

“ God, please pay the price to have me set free. Who else would put up money for me?

To God I’m just the same as you. I too am a piece of clay.
