Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?

“我若见恨我的遭报就欢喜，见他遭灾便高兴；

“我若见恨我的遇难就欢喜，见他遭灾就高兴；

“我若见恨我的遇难就欢喜，见他遭灾就高兴；

“我何曾因敌人遭殃而欢喜，因他们遇祸而快乐？

我若因恨我的人遭灾祸而欢喜，或因他遇患难而高兴；

我若見恨我的遭報就歡喜，見他遭災便高興；（

「我若見恨我的遇難就歡喜，見他遭災就高興；

「我若見恨我的遇難就歡喜，見他遭災就高興；

「我何曾因敵人遭殃而歡喜，因他們遇禍而快樂？

我若因恨我的人遭災禍而歡喜，或因他遇患難而高興；

『我若因恨我之人的敗亡而歡喜，因他的遭禍而高興；（

我若因憾我者被滅而欣喜、緣其遭禍而氣揚、

仇有禍、未嘗欣喜踴躍。

何曾因敵遇災而喜、何曾因其遭禍而踴躍、

“ If I have rejoiced at my enemy’s misfortune or gloated over the trouble that came to him—

“ I wasn’t happy when hard times came to my enemies. I didn’t enjoy seeing the trouble they had.

“ If I have rejoiced at the ruin of him who hated me, or exulted when evil overtook him

“ Have I ever rejoiced when disaster struck my enemies, or become excited when harm came their way?

“ Have I rejoiced at the misfortune of my enemy, Or become excited when evil found him?

“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted myself up when evil found him

If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him

Have I rejoiced over my enemy’s distress, or become excited when trouble came his way?

If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

If I have rejoiced over the misfortune of my enemy or exulted because calamity found him–

“ If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him

Don’t gloat when your enemy falls, and don’t let your heart rejoice when he stumbles,or the LORD will see, be displeased, and turn his wrath away from him.

The one who mocks the poor insults his Maker, and one who rejoices over calamity will not go unpunished.

Do not let them say in their hearts,“ Aha! Just what we wanted.” Do not let them say,“ We have swallowed him up!”Let those who rejoice at my misfortune be disgraced and humiliated; let those who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and reproach.

Yet when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting, and my prayer was genuine.I went about mourning as if for my friend or brother; I was bowed down with grief, like one mourning for a mother.

They mourned, wept, and fasted until the evening for those who died by the sword— for Saul, his son Jonathan, the LORD’s people, and the house of Israel.

when the person told me,‘ Look, Saul is dead,’ he thought he was a bearer of good news, but I seized him and put him to death at Ziklag. That was my reward to him for his news!How much more when wicked men kill a righteous man in his own house on his own bed! So now, should I not require his blood from you and purge you from the earth?”

Do not gloat over your brother in the day of his calamity; do not rejoice over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction; do not boastfully mock in the day of distress.

When King David got to Bahurim, a man belonging to the family of the house of Saul was just coming out. His name was Shimei son of Gera, and he was yelling curses as he approached.He threw stones at David and at all the royal servants, the people and the warriors on David’s right and left.Shimei said as he cursed,“ Get out, get out, you man of bloodshed, you wicked man!The LORD has paid you back for all the blood of the house of Saul in whose place you became king, and the LORD has handed the kingdom over to your son Absalom. Look, you are in trouble because you’re a man of bloodshed!”
