Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not eaten thereof

或独自吃我一点食物，孤儿没有与我同吃；

或独吞我的食物，不与孤儿同享？

我若独吃我的一点食物，孤儿却没有与我同吃；

或獨自吃我一點食物，孤兒沒有與我同吃；（

或獨自吃自己的食物，孤兒沒有吃其中些許；

或獨自吃自己的食物，孤兒沒有吃其中些許；

或獨吞我的食物，不與孤兒同享？

我若獨吃我的一點食物，孤兒卻沒有與我同吃；

或是獨自喫我一點食物，並沒給孤兒和我同喫；

一飯之微、我若獨食、不與孤子共之、

簞食之微、不敢自食、亦必與孤子共。

何曾獨食我餐、何曾不使孤子與我同食、

if I have kept my bread to myself, not sharing it with the fatherless—

I haven’t kept my bread to myself. I’ve shared it with children whose fathers had died.

or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it

Have I been stingy with my food and refused to share it with orphans?

if I have eaten my few crumbs alone without letting the fatherless eat any of it—

Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the orphan has not shared it

Or eaten my morsel by myself, So that the fatherless could not eat of it

if I have eaten my few crumbs alone without letting the fatherless eat any of it—

Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;

If I ate my morsel of bread myself, and did not share any of it with orphans–

or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it

communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality.

Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, And thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

But whoso hath the world’s goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him?

Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me; And I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My justice was as a robe and a diadem.I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame.I was a father to the needy: And the cause of him that I knew not I searched out.

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul: and not one of them said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

and hath not wronged any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath taken nought by robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

For the poor will never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt surely open thy hand unto thy brother, to thy needy, and to thy poor, in thy land.

neither hath wronged any, hath not taken aught to pledge, neither hath taken by robbery, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy threshing- floor, and out of thy winepress; as Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.

For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus said unto him, Buy what things we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you.

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye grieved; for the joy of Jehovah is your strength.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
