“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,

“我的仆婢与我争辩的时候，我若藐视不听他们的情节；

“我的仆婢与我争辩，我若藐视不听他们的冤情，

我的仆婢告我，我也会讲公道，

我的仆婢与我争论的时候，我若轻视他们的案件，

我的僕婢與我爭辯的時候，我若藐視不聽他們的情節；

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

我的僕婢告我，我也會講公道，

我的僕婢與我爭論的時候，我若輕視他們的案件，

『我的奴僕或婢女與我爭訟時，我若藐視、不聽其情由，

僕婢與我有爭、我若輕視其情、

如我不公以涖下、使彼抱屈、

我僕婢與我爭辯、我何嘗使之負屈含冤、

“ If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me,

“ Suppose I haven’t treated any of my male and female servants fairly when they’ve brought charges against me.

“ If I have rejected the cause of my manservant or my maidservant, when they brought a complaint against me,

“ If I have been unfair to my male or female servants when they brought their complaints to me,

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

“ If I have rejected the claim of my male or female slaves When they filed a complaint against me,

If I have despised the cause of my man- servant or of my maid- servant, When they contended with me;

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;

“ If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed with me,

“ If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,

“ And if a man beats his male or female servant with a rod, so that he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished.Notwithstanding, if he remains alive a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his property.

“ If a man strikes the eye of his male or female servant, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for the sake of his eye.And if he knocks out the tooth of his male or female servant, he shall let him go free for the sake of his tooth.

And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

You shall not rule over him with rigor, but you shall fear your God.

“ You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether one of your brethren or one of the aliens who is in your land within your gates.Each day you shall give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it; lest he cry out against you to the Lord, and it be sin to you.

“ If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.And when you send him away free from you, you shall not let him go away empty-handed;you shall supply him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From what the Lord your God has blessed you with, you shall give to him.You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today.

And you may take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them as a possession; they shall be your permanent slaves. But regarding your brethren, the children of Israel, you shall not rule over one another with rigor.

“ At the end of seven years let every man set free his Hebrew brother, who has been sold to him; and when he has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you.” But your fathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear.Then you recently turned and did what was right in My sight— every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor; and you made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My name.Then you turned around and profaned My name, and every one of you brought back his male and female slaves, whom you had set at liberty, at their pleasure, and brought them back into subjection, to be your male and female slaves.’“ Therefore thus says the Lord:‘ You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and every one to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim liberty to you,’ says the Lord—‘ to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine! And I will deliver you to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth.

Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
