“ If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed with me,

我的仆婢告我，我也会讲公道，

我的仆婢与我争论的时候，我若轻视他们的案件，

我的僕婢與我爭辯的時候，我若藐視不聽他們的情節；

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

我的僕婢告我，我也會講公道，

我的僕婢與我爭論的時候，我若輕視他們的案件，

『我的奴僕或婢女與我爭訟時，我若藐視、不聽其情由，

僕婢與我有爭、我若輕視其情、

如我不公以涖下、使彼抱屈、

我僕婢與我爭辯、我何嘗使之負屈含冤、

“ If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me,

“ Suppose I haven’t treated any of my male and female servants fairly when they’ve brought charges against me.

“ If I have rejected the cause of my manservant or my maidservant, when they brought a complaint against me,

“ If I have been unfair to my male or female servants when they brought their complaints to me,

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

“ If I have rejected the claim of my male or female slaves When they filed a complaint against me,

“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,

If I have despised the cause of my man- servant or of my maid- servant, When they contended with me;

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;

“ If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,

“ If a man strikes his male servant or his female servant with a staff so that he or she dies as a result of the blow, he will surely be punished.However, if the injured servant survives one or two days, the owner will not be punished, for he has suffered the loss.

“ If a man strikes the eye of his male servant or his female servant so that he destroys it, he will let the servant go free as compensation for the eye.If he knocks out the tooth of his male servant or his female servant, he will let the servant go free as compensation for the tooth.

Masters, treat your slaves the same way, giving up the use of threats, because you know that both you and they have the same master in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

You must not rule over him harshly, but you must fear your God.

You must not oppress a lowly and poor servant, whether one from among your fellow Israelites or from the resident foreigners who are living in your land and villages.You must pay his wage that very day before the sun sets, for he is poor and his life depends on it. Otherwise he will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.

If your fellow Hebrew– whether male or female– is sold to you and serves you for six years, then in the seventh year you must let that servant go free.If you set them free, you must not send them away empty-handed.You must supply them generously from your flock, your threshing floor, and your winepress– as the LORD your God has blessed you, you must give to them.Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore, I am commanding you to do this thing today.

You may give them as inheritance to your children after you to possess as property. You may enslave them perpetually. However, as for your brothers the Israelites, no man may rule over his brother harshly.

“ Every seven years each of you must free any fellow Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. After they have served you for six years, you shall set them free.” But your ancestors did not obey me or pay any attention to me.Recently, however, you yourselves showed a change of heart and did what is pleasing to me. You granted your fellow countrymen their freedom and you made a covenant to that effect in my presence in the house that I have claimed for my own.But then you turned right around and showed that you did not honor me. Each of you took back your male and female slaves whom you had freed as they desired, and you forced them to be your slaves again.So I, the LORD, say:“ You have not really obeyed me and granted freedom to your neighbor and fellow countryman. Therefore, I will grant you freedom, the freedom to die in war, or by starvation or disease. I, the LORD, affirm it! I will make all the kingdoms of the earth horrified at what happens to you.

Masters, treat your slaves with justice and fairness, because you know that you also have a master in heaven.
