If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

“我的仆婢与我争辩的时候，我若藐视不听他们的情节；

“我的仆婢与我争辩，我若藐视不听他们的冤情，

“我的仆婢与我争辩，我若藐视不听他们的冤情，

我的仆婢告我，我也会讲公道，

我的仆婢与我争论的时候，我若轻视他们的案件，

我的僕婢與我爭辯的時候，我若藐視不聽他們的情節；

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

「我的僕婢與我爭辯，我若藐視不聽他們的冤情，

我的僕婢告我，我也會講公道，

我的僕婢與我爭論的時候，我若輕視他們的案件，

『我的奴僕或婢女與我爭訟時，我若藐視、不聽其情由，

僕婢與我有爭、我若輕視其情、

如我不公以涖下、使彼抱屈、

我僕婢與我爭辯、我何嘗使之負屈含冤、

“ If I have denied justice to any of my servants, whether male or female, when they had a grievance against me,

“ Suppose I haven’t treated any of my male and female servants fairly when they’ve brought charges against me.

“ If I have rejected the cause of my manservant or my maidservant, when they brought a complaint against me,

“ If I have been unfair to my male or female servants when they brought their complaints to me,

“ If I have rejected the claim of my male or female slaves When they filed a complaint against me,

“ If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me,

If I have despised the cause of my man- servant or of my maid- servant, When they contended with me;

If I have dismissed the case of my male or female servants when they made a complaint against me,

If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;

“ If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed with me,

“ If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,

“ When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod, and the slave dies under his abuse, the owner must be punished.However, if the slave can stand up after a day or two, the owner should not be punished because he is his owner’s property.

“ When a man strikes the eye of his male or female slave and destroys it, he must let the slave go free in compensation for his eye.If he knocks out the tooth of his male or female slave, he must let the slave go free in compensation for his tooth.

And masters, treat your slaves the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

You are not to rule over them harshly but fear your God.

“ Do not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether one of your Israelite brothers or one of the resident aliens in a town in your land.You are to pay him his wages each day before the sun sets, because he is poor and depends on them. Otherwise he will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be held guilty.

“ If your fellow Hebrew, a man or woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, you must set him free in the seventh year.When you set him free, do not send him away empty-handed.Give generously to him from your flock, your threshing floor, and your winepress. You are to give him whatever the LORD your God has blessed you with.Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you; that is why I am giving you this command today.

You may leave them to your sons after you to inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But concerning your brothers, the Israelites, you must not rule over one another harshly.

‘ At the end of seven years, each of you must let his fellow Hebrew who sold himself to you go. He may serve you six years, but then you must let him go free from your service.’ But your ancestors did not obey me or pay any attention.Today you repented and did what pleased me, each of you proclaiming freedom for his neighbor. You made a covenant before me at the house that bears my name.But you have changed your minds and profaned my name. Each has taken back his male and female slaves who had been let go free to go wherever they wanted, and you have again forced them to be your slaves.“ Therefore, this is what the LORD says: You have not obeyed me by proclaiming freedom, each for his fellow Hebrew and for his neighbor. I hereby proclaim freedom for you— this is the LORD’s declaration— to the sword, to plague, and to famine! I will make you a horror to all the earth’s kingdoms.

Masters, deal with your slaves justly and fairly, since you know that you too have a Master in heaven.
