蓋此為重罪、士師當罰之惡、

緣此為大罪、為有司所當罰之惡、

For that would have been wicked, a sin to be judged.

Wanting another woman would have been an evil thing. It would have been a sin that should be judged.

For that would be a heinous crime; that would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges;

For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished.

For that would be a disgrace; it would be an iniquity deserving punishment.

For that would be a lustful crime; Moreover, it would be wrongdoing punishable by judges.

For that would be wickedness; Yes, it would be iniquity deserving of judgment.

For that were a heinous crime; Yea, it were an iniquity to be punished by the judges:

For that would be a disgrace; it would be a crime deserving punishment.

For this[ is] an heinous crime; yea, it[ is] an iniquity[ to be punished by] the judges.

If a man commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

If a man is caught having sexual relations with a married woman both the man who had relations with the woman and the woman herself must die; in this way you will purge evil from Israel.If a virgin is engaged to a man and another man meets her in the city and has sexual relations with her,you must bring the two of them to the gate of that city and stone them to death, the young woman because she did not cry out though in the city and the man because he violated his neighbor’s fiancee; in this way you will purge evil from among you.

then this also would be iniquity to be judged, for I would have been false to God above.

After three months Judah was told,“ Your daughter-in-law Tamar has turned to prostitution, and as a result she has become pregnant.” Judah said,“ Bring her out and let her be burned!”

Then Abimelech exclaimed,“ What in the world have you done to us? One of the men might easily have had sexual relations with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”

I will punish you as an adulteress and murderer deserves. I will avenge your bloody deeds with furious rage.

Abimelech summoned Abraham and said to him,“ What have you done to us? What sin did I commit against you that would cause you to bring such great guilt on me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done!”

“ You shall not commit adultery.

So it is with the one who has sex with his neighbor’s wife; no one who touches her will escape punishment.People do not despise a thief when he steals to fulfill his need when he is hungry.Yet if he is caught he must repay seven times over, he might even have to give all the wealth of his house.A man who commits adultery with a woman lacks wisdom, whoever does it destroys his own life.He will be beaten and despised, and his reproach will not be wiped away;

There is no one greater in this household than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. So how could I do such a great evil and sin against God?”
