今也年少於我者訕笑我、其人之祖父、自我視之、不堪與守我群羊之犬同處、

“ But now they mock me, men younger than I, whose fathers I would have disdained to put with my sheep dogs.

“ But now those who are younger than I am make fun of me. I wouldn’t even put their parents with my sheep dogs!

“ But now they laugh at me, men who are younger than I, whose fathers I would have disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.

“ But now I am mocked by people younger than I, by young men whose fathers are not worthy to run with my sheepdogs.

But now they mock me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to put with my sheep dogs.

“ But now those who are younger than I mock me, Whose fathers I refused to put with the dogs of my flock.

“ But now they mock at me, men younger than I, Whose fathers I disdained to put with the dogs of my flock.

But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, Whose fathers I disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.

They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.And they began to call out to him,“ Hail, king of the Jews!”Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him. (niv)

Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said,“ Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him. (niv)

But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; assailants gathered against me without my knowledge. They slandered me without ceasing.Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked; they gnashed their teeth at me. (niv)

But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason’s house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd. (niv)

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him.“ Get out of here, baldy!” they said.“ Get out of here, baldy!” (niv)

The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said,“ He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” (niv)

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him:“ Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” (niv)

Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of the drunkards. (niv)

But the whole crowd shouted,“ Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!” (niv)

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it:“ Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.” (niv)

“ He has alienated my family from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.My relatives have gone away; my closest friends have forgotten me.My guests and my female servants count me a foreigner; they look on me as on a stranger.I summon my servant, but he does not answer, though I beg him with my own mouth.My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own family.Even the little boys scorn me; when I appear, they ridicule me.All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me. the young men saw me and stepped aside and the old men rose to their feet;the chief men refrained from speaking and covered their mouths with their hands;the voices of the nobles were hushed, and their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths. (niv)

People will oppress each other— man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise up against the old, the nobody against the honored. (niv)
