“ When I went to the gate of the city and took my seat in the public square,

“ In those days I went to the city gate. I took my seat as a member of the council.

When I went out to the gate of the city, when I prepared my seat in the square,

“ Those were the days when I went to the city gate and took my place among the honored leaders.

“ When I went out to the gate by the city, When I took my seat in the open square,

When I went forth to the gate unto the city, When I prepared my seat in the street,

These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; (niv)

Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly. (niv)
