“ When I went to the gate of the city and took my seat in the public square,

“ In those days I went to the city gate. I took my seat as a member of the council.

“ Those were the days when I went to the city gate and took my place among the honored leaders.

When I went out to the city gate and took my seat in the town square,

When I went out to the gate of the city, When I took my seat in the public square,

“ When I went out to the gate by the city, When I took my seat in the open square,

When I went forth to the gate unto the city, When I prepared my seat in the street,

When I went out to the city gate and took my seat in the town square,

When I went out to the gate through the city,[ when] I prepared my seat in the street!

When I went out to the city gate and secured my seat in the public square,

when I went out to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.

These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace;

“ You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
