“ I thought,‘ I’ll die in my own house. The days of my life will be as many as the grains of sand.

我便说：我必死在家中，必增添我的日子，多如尘沙。

我说：‘我要增添我的日子如尘沙，我必死在自己家中。

我说：‘我要增添我的日子如尘沙，我必死在自己家中。

“我想，‘我必在家中安然离世，我的年日必多如尘沙。

那时我心里想：‘我必在家中安然去世，我必增添我的日子像沙尘那么多。

我便說：我必死在家中，必增添我的日子，多如塵沙。

我說：『我要增添我的日子如塵沙，我必死在自己家中。

我說：『我要增添我的日子如塵沙，我必死在自己家中。

「我想，『我必在家中安然離世，我的年日必多如塵沙。

那時我心裡想：‘我必在家中安然去世，我必增添我的日子像沙塵那麼多。

那時我心裏說：「我必善終於我的巢窩；我必增多我的年日如塵沙；

自謂必終於我巢、增加我日、如沙之多、

我行若此、自謂必享遐齡、若沙之無量、終於正寢。

我自以為必善終於家、必善終於家原文作必終於我巢我之壽命必多如塵沙、我之壽命必多如塵沙或作我必增壽如鳳

“ I thought,‘ I will die in my own house, my days as numerous as the grains of sand.

Then I thought,‘ I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand,

“ I thought,‘ Surely I will die surrounded by my family after a long, good life.

So I thought,“ I will die in my own nest and multiply my days as the sand.

Then I thought,‘ I will die with my family, And I will multiply my days as the sand.

“ Then I said,‘ I shall die in my nest, And multiply my days as the sand.

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, And I shall multiply my days as the sand:

So I thought: I will die in my own nest and multiply my days as the sand.

Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply[ my] days as the sand.

“ Then I thought,‘ I will die in my own home, my days as numerous as the grains of sand.

Then I said,‘ I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.

After all of that happened, Job lived for 140 years. He saw his children, his grandchildren and his great- grandchildren.And so Job died. He had lived for a very long time.

You will go down to the grave while you are still very strong. You will be like a crop that is gathered at the right time.

When I felt safe, I said,“ I will always be secure.”Lord, when you gave me your help, you made Mount Zion stand firm. But when you took away your help, I was terrified.

But you have said,‘ I will surely give you success. I will make your children as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. People will not be able to count them.’ ”

I will give him a long and full life. I will save him.”

“ How terrible it will be for the Babylonians! They build their kingdom with money that they gained by cheating others. They have tried to make the kingdom as secure as possible. After all, they did not want to be destroyed.

You live in the safety of the rocks. You live on top of the hills. But the terror you stir up has now turned against you. Your proud heart has tricked you. You build your nest as high as an eagle does. But I will bring you down from there,” announces the Lord.

Some of you live in Jerusalem in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon. You are comfortable in your cedar buildings. But you will groan when pain comes on you. It will be like the pain of a woman having a baby.

Joseph stored up huge amounts of grain. There was as much of it as sand by the sea. There was so much grain it couldn’t be measured. So Joseph stopped keeping records of it.

You have built your home as high as an eagle does. You have made your nest among the stars. But I will bring you down from there,” announces the Lord.
