And he said to the human race,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

He said to human beings,“ Have respect for the Lord. That will prove you are wise. Avoid evil. That will show you have understanding.”

And he said to man,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”

And this is what he says to all humanity:‘ The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’”

He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord— that is wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

And to man He said,‘ Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’”

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.

He said to mankind,“ The fear of the Lord is this: wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.”

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; All those who follow His commandments have a good understanding; His praise endures forever.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

So keep and do them, for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say,‘ Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.

Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy.

Turn from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.

The highway of the upright is to turn away from evil; One who watches his way protects his life.

“ The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, so that we may follow all the words of this Law.

“ To you, people, I call, And my voice is to mankind.You naive ones, understand prudence; And, you fools, understand wisdom!

“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil,

While He had not yet made the earth and the fields, Nor the first dust of the world.When He established the heavens, I was there; When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,When He made firm the skies above, When the springs of the deep became fixed,When He set a boundary for the sea So that the water would not violate His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth;Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was His delight daily, Rejoicing always before Him,Rejoicing in the world, His earth, And having my delight in the sons of mankind.“ Now then, sons, listen to me, For blessed are those who keep my ways.

He must turn away from evil and do good; He must seek peace and pursue it.

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death.

Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal:“ The Lord knows those who are His;” and,“ Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to keep away from wickedness.”
