所有過路的人，都拍掌嘲笑你；他們嗤笑耶路撒冷的居民，並搖頭說：“被人稱為最完美，為全地所喜悅的，就是這城嗎？”

這就是那歡樂安居之城，她心裡曾說：“只有我，除我以外，再沒有別的了。”現在怎麼竟成了荒場、走獸躺臥之處呢！凡從那裡經過的，都必舞手嗤笑。

天哪，你要因她歡喜！眾聖徒、眾使徒、眾先知啊，你們也要因她歡喜！因為神已經在她身上為你們伸了冤。”

我要使這城變為荒涼，成為被人嗤笑的對象；每一個經過這裡的，都必因這城所遭受的一切創傷而驚駭，並且嗤笑她。

你跟隨了暗利的規例和亞哈家一切所行的，順從了他們的計謀；因此，我必使你荒涼，使你（“你”原文作“她”）的居民被嗤笑；你們也必擔當我民的羞辱。

他們把他從光明中趕到黑暗裡，又把他從世界中趕出去。

這殿必成為廢墟（按照《馬索拉文本》，“成為廢墟”應作“甚高”；現參照《敘利亞譯本》翻譯），經過的人都必驚訝，取笑說：耶和華為甚麼向這地和這殿這樣作啊？

以這月的兩日，為猶大人脫離仇敵，得享安寧的日子，是轉憂為喜，轉哀為樂的吉日，叫他們在這兩日飲宴歡樂，大家互贈禮物，也賙濟窮人。於是，猶大人承諾要守他們起初所守的，也承諾要遵守末底改寫給他們的。原本猶大人的敵人，亞甲族哈米大他的兒子哈曼曾經設謀陷害猶大人，要消滅他們；他弄卜“普珥”，就是抽籤，為要打擊和消滅猶大人。但這事呈到王面前以後，王使用文書降旨吩咐，使哈曼計謀的惡事，就是他設謀陷害猶大人的事歸到他自己的頭上，又使人把他和他的眾子掛在木架上。

義人亨通，全城歡樂；惡人滅亡，大家歡呼。
