Righteous[ art] thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of[ thy] judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper?[ wherefore] are all they happy that deal very treacherously?Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou[ art] near in their mouth, and far from their reins.But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth[ abundantly].

Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require[ it].Thou hast seen[ it]; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite[ it] with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for[ he that is] higher than the highest regardeth; and[ there be] higher than they.

[ Thou art] of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,[ and] holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth[ the man that is] more righteous than he?

For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider[ it]?

For he saith,[ Are] not my princes altogether kings?[ Is] not Calno as Carchemish?[ is] not Hamath as Arpad?[ is] not Samaria as Damascus?As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink,[ and] be merry.But God said unto him,[ Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:

Come ye,[ say they], I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day,[ and] much more abundant.
