Give orders that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone, divine or human— except to you, Your Majesty— will be thrown into the den of lions.And now, Your Majesty, issue and sign this law so it cannot be changed, an official law of the Medes and Persians that cannot be revoked.”So King Darius signed the law.

So it is not in the king’s interest to let them live.If it please the king, issue a decree that they be destroyed, and I will give 10,000 large sacks of silver to the government administrators to be deposited in the royal treasury.”The king agreed, confirming his decision by removing his signet ring from his finger and giving it to Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.

And Pilate said to the people,“ Look, here is your king!”“ Away with him,” they yelled.“ Away with him! Crucify him!”“ What? Crucify your king?” Pilate asked.“ We have no king but Caesar,” the leading priests shouted back.Then Pilate turned Jesus over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus away.
