“竊賊挖窟窿入屋的時候，如果被人發現，把他打了，以致打死，打死人的就沒有流人血的罪。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為22:1）如果太陽出來了，他就有流人血的罪。竊賊必須賠償，如果他一無所有，就要賣身，還他所偷之物。

你們都知道，家主若曉得竊賊晚上甚麼時候會來，就會提高警覺，不讓他摸進屋裡。

你要當著他們眼前把牆挖穿，把你的東西從那裡帶出去。到了天黑，你要當著他們眼前把這些東西扛在肩頭上帶出去；你要蒙住你的臉，使你看不見這地，因為我已經立你作以色列家的一個兆頭。”於是我照著所吩咐的去行，在日間我把我的東西（好像被擄時所需的物件）搬出來；到了晚上，我用手把牆挖穿；天黑的時候，我就當著他們眼前把這些東西扛在肩頭上帶出去。

“不可為自己在地上積聚財寶，因為地上有蟲蛀，有鏽侵蝕，也有賊挖洞來偷。

不要參與暗昧無益的事，倒要把它揭露出來，因為他們暗中所作的事，連提起來也是羞恥的。凡被光揭露的，都是顯而易見的。

他們中間的君王必在天黑的時候，把東西扛在肩頭上，從他們挖穿的牆帶出去；他必蒙住自己的臉，不能看見這地。
