耶穌說：“我的食物就是遵行差我來者的旨意，並且完成他的工作。

我一得到你的話，就把它們吃了；你的話成了我心中的歡喜快樂；耶和華萬軍的神啊！因為我是稱為你名下的人。

你該從他口中領受訓誨，把他的話放在心裡。

堅固門徒的心，勸他們恆守所信的道，又說：“我們進入神的國，必須經歷許多苦難。”

從此，他的門徒中有許多人退去了，不再與他同行。於是耶穌對十二門徒說：“你們也想離去嗎？”西門．彼得回答：“主啊，你有永生之道，我們還跟從誰呢？我們已經相信，並且知道你是神的聖者。”

在他想不到的日子、不知道的時間，那僕人的主人要來，嚴厲地處罰他，使他和不信的人同在一起。

這樣，我們得安慰，在無情的痛苦之中我還可以歡躍，因為我沒有否認那聖者的言語。

主說：“誰是那忠心精明的管家，被主人指派管理家裡的僕人，按時分糧呢？

我的義人必因信得生，如果他後退，我的心就不喜悅他。”但我們不是那些後退以致滅亡的人，而是有信心以致保全生命的人。

像初生嬰孩愛慕那純淨的靈奶，好叫你們靠它長大，進入救恩；
