When people are brought low and you say‘ Lift them up!’ then he will save the downcast;

人使你降卑，你仍可说：必得高升；谦卑的人，神必然拯救。

当人降卑，你说：是因骄傲；眼目谦卑的人，上帝必然拯救。

当人降卑，你说：是因骄傲；眼目谦卑的人，神必然拯救。

人遭贬抑时，你说，‘使他们升高吧。’上帝就会拯救他们，

人谦卑的时候，你就说：‘升高吧！’眼中谦卑的他必拯救，

人使你降卑，你仍可說：必得高升；謙卑的人，神必然拯救。

人卑降之時、爾仍言我得升高、蓋謙遜者、天主必祐之、

When people are brought low and you say,‘ Lift them up!’ then he will save the downcast.

When people are brought low you will say,‘ Lift them up!’ Then God will help them.

For when they are humbled you say,‘ It is because of pride’; but he saves the lowly.

If people are in trouble and you say,‘ Help them,’ God will save them.

When others are humiliated and you say,“ Lift them up,” God will save the humble.

When they have brought you low, you will speak with confidence, And He will save the humble person.

When they cast you down, and you say,‘ Exaltation will come!’ Then He will save the humble person.

When they cast thee down, thou shalt say, There is lifting up; And the humble person he will save.

When others are humiliated and you say,“ Lift them up,” God will save the humble.

When[ men] are cast down, then thou shalt say,[ There is] lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

When they cast down, you will say,‘ be lifted up.’ He will save the humble person.

In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position;

He will deliver you from six calamities; yes, in seven no evil will touch you.In time of famine he will redeem you from death, and in time of war from the power of the sword.You will be protected from malicious gossip, and will not be afraid of the destruction when it comes.You will laugh at destruction and famine and need not be afraid of the beasts of the earth.For you will have a pact with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.And you will know that your home will be secure, and when you inspect your domains, you will not be missing anything.You will also know that your children will be numerous, and your descendants like the grass of the earth.You will come to your grave in a full age, As stacks of grain are harvested in their season.Look, we have investigated this, so it is true. Hear it, and apply it for your own good.”

A person’s pride will bring him low, but one who has a lowly spirit will gain honor.

Though the LORD is exalted, he takes note of the lowly, and recognizes the proud from far away.

My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the LORD. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.

this is what the sovereign LORD says: Tear off the turban, take off the crown! Things must change! Exalt the lowly, bring down the proud!A total ruin I will make it! It will come to an end when the one arrives to whom I have assigned judgment.’

Jesus also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else.“ Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unrighteous people, adulterers– or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’The tax collector, however, stood far off and would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said,‘ God, be merciful to me, sinner that I am!’I tell you that this man went down to his home justified rather than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The LORD says,“ Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me.When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation.

Indeed, look at your enemies, O LORD! Indeed, look at how your enemies perish! All the evildoers are scattered!You exalt my horn like that of a wild ox. I am covered with fresh oil.I gloat in triumph over those who tried to ambush me; I hear the defeated cries of the evil foes who attacked me.

For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy:“ I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.

I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One!When my enemies turn back, they trip and are defeated before you.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
