在他离世以前，虚空必临到他，他的枝子再不会青绿。

人子降临时的情形就像挪亚的时代。洪水来临之前，人们吃吃喝喝，男婚女嫁，一直到挪亚进方舟那天；他们懵然不知，直到洪水来把他们全冲走了。人子降临时的情形也是这样。

洪水在地上泛滥了四十天，水不断地往上涨，把方舟漂了起来。洪水来势汹汹，淹没大地，方舟漂浮在水面上。水势越来越大，把天下各处的高山都淹没了。水淹没了群山，水面高出群山七米。世上所有的飞禽、走兽、牲畜、爬虫和人类都死了。在陆地上所有用鼻孔呼吸的生灵都死了。地上的人类、飞禽走兽和爬虫等一切生灵都被毁灭了，只剩下挪亚和跟他同在方舟里的生灵。洪水淹没大地一百五十天。

祂还借着圣灵向那些监狱中的灵魂传道，他们就是从前在挪亚造方舟、上帝耐心等候人们悔改的时代中那些不肯信的人。当时进入方舟，从洪水中得救的人很少，只有八个人。

上帝也没有容忍远古的世代，曾用洪水淹灭了世上不敬虔的恶人，只留下传讲上帝公义的挪亚和他的七位家人。

挪亚六百岁那年的二月十七日，所有深渊的泉源都裂开了，天上的水闸也打开了，

我说：“我的上帝啊，你世代长存，求你不要叫我中年早逝。

上帝啊，你必把恶人送进灭亡的坑里。嗜血成性的骗子必早早夭亡。但我要信靠你。

凡听了我这些话不去行的，就像愚昧人把房子建在沙土上。遇到风吹雨打、洪水冲击，房子就倒塌了，而且倒塌得很厉害。”

不要过分邪恶，也不要做愚人，何必时候未到就死呢？

流水磨损石头，急流冲走泥土；你也这样粉碎人的希望。
