Satan answered Yahweh, and said,“ Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.

不但如此，為了要得認識我主基督耶穌——這種認識之至寶，我竟將萬事都看做虧損了；為了他，我已經虧損了一切，看做糞土，為要贏得基督，而常在他裏面；不是有我自己的義、那以律法為本的義，乃是有那憑着信基督的義、那由上帝而來、以信為條件的義；使我認識基督、和他復活的大能力，以及和他一同受苦的團契，而有和他同死的形質，

人若贏得全世界，卻賠上自己的性命，能得着甚麼益處呢？人要拿出甚麼來對換自己的性命呢？

故此我告訴你們，不要為你們的性命來掛慮、要喫甚麼、或喝甚麼；也不要為你們的身體來掛慮、要穿甚麼。性命不是勝於食物，而身體勝於服裝麼？

當那日子、人必將他們為自己所造去敬拜的銀偶相金偶相拋給挖窩的田鼠和蝙蝠，以便永恆主起來使地戰抖時人好進巖隙，入巖罅，去躲避永恆主之可畏懼、和他威嚴之榮光。

只是他們中間有十個人對以實瑪利說：『不要殺死我們；因為我們有許多小麥、大麥、油、蜜、在田間埋藏着。』於是他們住了手，沒有在他們族弟兄中把他們殺死。

王后以斯帖回答說：『王啊，我若在你面前蒙恩寵，王若以為好，我所求的、是求王將我的性命賜給我；我所要的、是要王將我本族之民賜給我。因為我和我本族之民、我們都被出賣、快要被消滅，被屠殺，被滅盡了。我們若只是被賣為奴隸為婢女，我也就閉不作聲，但敵人是不會以王的這種損失為滿足的。』

我們被風浪逼得極緊，次日眾人就直進行拋出貨物的事；第三天便親手把船上的用具也拋棄了。
