When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.

Job had three friends named Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They heard about all the troubles that had come to Job. So they started out from their homes. They had agreed to meet together. They wanted to go and show their concern for Job. They wanted to comfort him.

Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him.

When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.

朋友時常親愛，弟兄為患難而生。

亞伯拉罕的妾基土拉所生的兒子，就是心蘭、約珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴和書亞。約珊的兒子是示巴和底但。

提瑪的商隊瞻望，示巴的旅客等候。

假如一個肢體受苦，所有的肢體就一同受苦；假如一個肢體得光榮，所有的肢體就一同快樂。

有好些猶太人來看馬大和馬利亞，要為她們弟弟的緣故安慰她們。

書亞人比勒達回答說：

「灰心的人，他的朋友當以慈愛待他，因為他將離棄敬畏全能者的心。

他的兒女都起來安慰他，他卻不肯受安慰，說：「我必哀傷着下陰間，到我兒子那裏。」約瑟的父親就為他哀哭。

你的朋友和父親的朋友，你都不可離棄。你遭難時，不要上兄弟的家去；相近的鄰舍強如遠方的兄弟。

書亞人比勒達回答說：

我的朋友啊，可憐我！可憐我！因為上帝的手攻擊我。

要記念受監禁的人，好像與他們同受監禁；要記念受虐待的人，好像你們也親身受虐待一樣。

但你們是編造謊言的，全都是無用的醫生。

「這樣的話我聽了許多；你們全都是使人愁煩的安慰者。

我的知心朋友都憎惡我；我平日所愛的人向我翻臉。

提幔人以利法回答說：

朋友太多的人，必受損害；但有一知己比兄弟更親密。

耶和華對約伯說話以後，耶和華就對提幔人以利法說：「我的怒氣向你和你兩個朋友發作，因為你們議論我，不如我的僕人約伯說的正確。

我的朋友譏誚我，我卻向上帝眼淚汪汪。

這雙重的災難臨到你，有誰憐憫你呢？破壞和毀滅，饑荒和戰爭臨到，我如何能安慰你呢？
