He replied,“ You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

曰、爾出言、如愚婦也、我儕自上帝受福、不亦受禍乎、約伯於此諸事、未嘗以口干罪、○

曰、爾所言、乃頑嚚之婦也、我自上帝而獲福祉、茲之受禍、不亦宜乎。約百不以言取罪、又如此。

約百謂之曰、爾言如愚婦之言、天主賜福、我儕則受、天主降禍、我儕則不受乎、約百雖遇此、猶不以言犯罪、

Job replied,“ You are talking like a foolish woman. We accept good things from God. So we should also accept trouble when he sends it.” In spite of everything, Job didn’t say anything that was sinful.

But he said to her,“ You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

But Job replied,“ You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.

“ You speak as a foolish woman speaks,” he told her.“ Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?” Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.

But he said to her,“ You are speaking as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we actually accept good from God but not accept adversity?” Despite all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

But he said to her,“ You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

“ You speak as a foolish woman speaks,” he told her.“ Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?” Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

But he replied,“ You’re talking like one of the godless women would do! Should we receive what is good from God, and not also receive what is evil?” In all this Job did not sin by what he said.

But he said to her,“ You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job didn’t sin with his lips.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?Why should the living complain when punished for their sins?Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven, and say:

and said:“ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Jesus turned and said to Peter,“ Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Jesus commanded Peter,“ Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”

You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

I said,“ I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.”

David was conscience- stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord,“ I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”

What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you.”

We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

To Adam he said,“ Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you,‘ You must not eat from it,’“ Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.

When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said,“ How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half- naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”David said to Michal,“ It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel— I will celebrate before the Lord.

For the sins of their mouths, for the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. For the curses and lies they utter,

David replied,“ What does this have to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? What right do you have to interfere? Should anyone be put to death in Israel today? Don’t I know that today I am king over Israel?”

“ Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.He had seven sons and three daughters,and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.

Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.”

Folly is an unruly woman; she is simple and knows nothing.

Five of them were foolish and five were wise.

All my grandfather’s descendants deserved nothing but death from my lord the king, but you gave your servant a place among those who eat at your table. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to the king?”

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.”
