I am ridiculed by all my adversaries and even by my neighbors. I am dreaded by my acquaintances; those who see me in the street run from me.

Surely He has now exhausted me. You have devastated my entire family.

Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I waited for sympathy, but there was none; for comforters, but found no one.

So this is what you have now become to me. When you see something dreadful, you are afraid.Have I ever said:“ Give me something” or“ Pay a bribe for me from your wealth”or“ Deliver me from the enemy’s power” or“ Redeem me from the grasp of the ruthless”?

My loved ones and friends stand back from my affliction, and my relatives stand at a distance.

But all this has happened so that the prophetic Scriptures would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted Him and ran away.

At my first defense, no one stood by me, but everyone deserted me. May it not be counted against them.
