Will hope go down to the gates of death with me? Will we go down together into the dust of the grave?”

等到安息在尘土中，这指望必下到阴间的门闩那里了。”

这盼望要下到阴间的门闩吗？要一起在尘土中安息吗？”

这盼望要下到阴间的门闩吗？要一起在尘土中安息吗？”

我的希望会跟我进入阴间，与我同归尘土吗？”

等到安息在尘土中的时候，那些指望必下到阴间的门闩那里。”

等到安息在塵土中，這指望必下到陰間的門閂那裏了。

這盼望要下到陰間的門閂嗎？要一起在塵土中安息嗎？」

這盼望要下到陰間的門閂嗎？要一起在塵土中安息嗎？」

我的希望會跟我進入陰間，與我同歸塵土嗎？」

等到安息在塵土中的時候，那些指望必下到陰間的門閂那裡。”

所指望的要同我下到陰間麼？或是我們要一同落於塵土中呢？』

迨至安寢於土、則所望者、下及陰府之楗而已、

必歸陰府、安寢於土、所望之福、歸於烏有。

既安寢於土、則歸示阿勒示阿勒見七章九節小註之深處矣、或作必下至示阿勒之荒墟必同寢於土中

Will it go down to the gates of death? Will we descend together into the dust?”

Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?”

No, my hope will go down with me to the grave. We will rest together in the dust!”

Will it go down to the gates of Sheol, or will we descend together to the dust?

Will it go down with me to Sheol? Shall we together go down into the dust?”

Will they go down to the gates of Sheol? Shall we have rest together in the dust?”

It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, When once there is rest in the dust.

Will it go down to the gates of Sheol, or will we descend together to the dust?

They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when[ our] rest together[ is] in the dust.

Will it go down to the barred gates of death? Will we descend together into the dust?”

Shall it go down with me to the gates of Sheol, or descend together into the dust?”

In the grave, sinful people don’t cause trouble anymore. And there tired people find rest.Prisoners also enjoy peace there. They don’t hear a slave driver shouting at them anymore.The least important and most important people are there. And there the slaves are set free from their owners.

I sank down to the bottom of the mountains. I thought I had died and gone down into the grave forever. But you are the Lord my God. You brought my life up from the very edge of the pit of death.

In fact, we felt as if we were under the sentence of death. But that happened so that we would not depend on ourselves but on God. He raises the dead to life.

People think my life is over. I’m like someone who doesn’t have any strength.People treat me as if I were dead. I’m like those who have been killed and are now in the grave. You don’t even remember them anymore. They are cut off from your care.It’s as if you have put me deep down in the grave. It’s as if you have put me in that deep, dark place.Your great anger lies heavy on me. All the waves of your anger have crashed over me.You have taken my closest friends away from me. You have made me sickening to them. I feel trapped and can’t escape.

Lord, answer me quickly. I’m growing weak. Don’t turn your face away from me, or I will be like those who go down into the grave.

It eats away parts of their skin. Death itself feeds on their arms and legs.They are torn away from the safety of their tents. They are marched off to the one who rules over death.

I’m sure it was for my benefit that I suffered such great pain. You love me. You kept me from going down into the pit of death. You have put all my sins behind your back.People in the grave can’t praise you. Dead people can’t sing praise to you. Those who go down to the grave can’t hope for you to be faithful to them.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Son of man, these bones stand for all the people of Israel. The people say,‘ Our bones are dried up. We’ve lost all hope. We are destroyed.’

He wants to stop them from going down into the grave. He doesn’t want them to be killed by swords.Someone might be punished by suffering in bed. The pain in their bones might never go away.They might feel so bad they can’t eat anything. They might even hate the finest food.Their body might waste away to nothing. Their bones might have been hidden. But now they stick out.They might approach the very edge of the grave. The messengers of death might come for them.“ But suppose there is an angel who will speak up for him. The angel is very special. He’s one out of a thousand. He will tell that person how to do what is right.That angel will be gracious to them. He’ll say to God,‘ Spare them from going down into the grave. I know a way that can set them free.’Then their body is made like new again. They become as strong and healthy as when they were young.Then that person can pray to God and be blessed by him. They will see God’s face and shout for joy. God will make them well and happy again.Then that person will come to others and say,‘ I sinned. I made what is wrong appear to be right. But I wasn’t punished as I should have been.God has set me free. He has kept me from going down into the darkness of the grave. So I’ll live to enjoy the light of life.’
