称坟墓为父亲，称蛆虫为母亲、姊妹，

我若对深坑说：‘你是我的父亲’，对虫说：‘你是我的母亲，我的姊妹’，

假使我對冥坑呼叫說：「你是我父親」，對蛆蟲說：「你是我母親，我姐妹」，

謂墓為父、謂蟲為母、為姊、

與朽腐為鄰、與蚯蚓同處、奚啻父母姊妹、

我若稱墓為父、稱蟲為母為姊、

if I say to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ and to the worm,‘ My mother’ or‘ My sister,’

Suppose I say to the grave,‘ You are like a father to me.’ And suppose I say to its worms,‘ You are like a mother or sister to me.’

if I say to the pit,‘ You are my father,’ and to the worm,‘ My mother,’ or‘ My sister,’

What if I call the grave my father, and the maggot my mother or my sister?

and say to corruption,“ You are my father,” and to the maggot,“ My mother” or“ My sister,”

If I call to the grave,‘ You are my father’; To the maggot,‘ my mother and my sister’;

If I say to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ And to the worm,‘ You are my mother and my sister,’

If I have said to corruption, Thou art my father; To the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister;

and say to corruption: You are my father, and to the maggot: My mother or my sister,

I have said to corruption, Thou[ art] my father: to the worm,[ Thou art] my mother, and my sister.

If I cry to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ and to the worm,‘ My Mother,’ or‘ My sister,’

if I have said to corruption,‘ You are my father;’ to the worm,‘ My mother,’ and‘ My sister,’

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. (niv)

The womb forgets them, the worm feasts on them; the wicked are no longer remembered but are broken like a tree. (niv)

so that they should live on forever and not see decay. (niv)

God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said,“‘ I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’So it is also stated elsewhere:“‘ You will not let your holy one see decay.’“ Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay. (niv)

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’“ Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. My skin grows black and peels; my body burns with fever. (niv)

“ So man wastes away like something rotten, like a garment eaten by moths. (niv)

They are carried to the grave, and watch is kept over their tombs.The soil in the valley is sweet to them; everyone follows after them, and a countless throng goes before them. (niv)

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; (niv)

Side by side they lie in the dust, and worms cover them both. (niv)

For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:“ Death has been swallowed up in victory.” (niv)

All your pomp has been brought down to the grave, along with the noise of your harps; maggots are spread out beneath you and worms cover you. (niv)

And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; (niv)
