My life is almost over. My plans are destroyed. Yet the desires of my heart

My days are past; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart.

My days are over. My hopes have disappeared. My heart’s desires are broken.

My days have slipped by; my plans have been ruined, even the things dear to my heart.

“ My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and they come to an end without hope.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

I said,“ In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the rest of my years?”

Now listen, you who say,“ Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.Instead, you ought to say,“ If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

“ My days are swifter than a runner; they fly away without a glimpse of joy.They skim past like boats of papyrus, like eagles swooping down on their prey.

Because I was confident of this, I wanted to visit you first so that you might benefit twice.I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way to Judea.Was I fickle when I intended to do this? Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the same breath I say both“ Yes, yes” and“ No, no”?

Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you( but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
