嗐！你们有话说：“今天明天我们要往某城里去，在那里住一年，做买卖得利。”其实明天如何，你们还不知道。你们的生命是什么呢？你们原来是一片云雾，出现少时就不见了。你们只当说：“主若愿意，我们就可以活着，也可以做这事，或做那事。”

“我的日子比跑信的更快，急速过去，不见福乐。我的日子过去如快船，如急落抓食的鹰。

我既然这样深信，就早有意到你们那里去，叫你们再得益处；也要从你们那里经过，往马其顿去，再从马其顿回到你们那里，叫你们给我送行往犹太去。我有此意，岂是反复不定吗？我所起的意，岂是从情欲起的，叫我忽是忽非吗？

任凭你们同谋，终归无有；任凭你们言定，终不成立；因为神与我们同在。

人心多有计谋；惟有耶和华的筹算才能立定。

凡你手所当做的事要尽力去做；因为在你所必去的阴间没有工作，没有谋算，没有知识，也没有智慧。

除非主命定，谁能说成就成呢？

弟兄们，我不愿意你们不知道，我屡次定意往你们那里去，要在你们中间得些果子，如同在其余的外邦人中一样；只是到如今仍有阻隔。
