我说，在如日中天的时候我就走了，将剩余的年岁交给阴间的门。我说，我必不得见耶和华，不得在活人之地见耶和华，也不再看见世人，就是短暂世界中的居民。我的住处好像牧人的帐棚，遭人掀起，离我而去；我将性命卷起，像织布的卷布一样。他从织布机头那里将我剪断，你使我命丧于旦夕。我令自己安静直到天亮；他像狮子折断我所有的骨头，你使我命丧于旦夕。我像燕子呢喃，像白鹤鸣叫，又如鸽子哀鸣；我因仰望，眼睛困倦。主啊，我受欺压，求你为我作保。

因为我心里满了患难，我的性命临近阴间；我与下到地府的人同列，如同无人帮助的人一样。我被丢在死人中，好像被杀的人躺在坟墓里，不再被你记得，与你的手隔绝了。

我若盼望阴间为我的家，若下榻在黑暗中，若对地府呼叫：‘你是我的父亲’，若对虫呼叫：‘你是我的母亲、姊妹’，

我口的气味令我妻子厌恶，我的同胞都憎恶我。

此后，约伯又活了一百四十年，得见他的四代儿孙。

我必不长久控诉，也不永远怀怒，因为我虽使灵性发昏，我也造了人的气息。

我有什么气力使我等候？我有什么结局使我忍耐？
